Psychosis can feel confusing, frightening, and hard to put into words, especially the first time it happens. It often shows up as changes in thinking, perception, or the way the mind processes the world, and it can be just as disorienting for the people who love someone going through it.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. PIER Program offers coordinated, evidence-based care for teens and young adults across Maine, in-person and through Telehealth, so help is never far out of reach.

The most well-known symptoms are:

Changes in thinking

Changes in Perception

Changes in mental processing

These changes can impact daily functioning. PIER uses a coordinated team approach to help young people and their families
